Teen/Adult Braces

Traditional Metal Braces

For teens and adults, metal braces are the most common type of braces seen today. The brackets are made with a high-grade stainless steel and have remarkably been reduced in size in recent years for more comfort. Thin, flexible archwires are engaged in the brackets with elastics. Elastics come in many colors and allow for customizing the look of your braces at each office visit.

Ceramic (Tooth-colored) Braces

Ceramic braces are less visible than traditional braces, and offer a more esthetic approach to orthodontic treatment. For that reason, ceramic braces are usually used on older teenagers and adults who have cosmetic concerns.

Self-ligating Braces (Damon System, Inovation)

Self ligating braces are a relatively new appliance system for straightening teeth that has several benefits. The bracket is uniquely designed to allow lighter forces on the teeth and periodontium, due to very little friction between the braces and wires. This lower friction allows for a gentler force for tooth movement, possibly faster treatment times, fewer office visits, and has some oral hygiene benefits as well.
